My name is Lynn Friend and I am very excited to be working with you and your child this year! I love my job because I get to work with wonderful students, families and teachers. It is an honor to help your child learn and grow. My goal is to help students become life long learners and to fill their early elementary years with positive and fun experiences.
I graduated from the University of Delaware and obtained dual certification in elementary and special education. I obtained my masters degree from Holy Family University in special education - advanced practice. In addition, have taken courses beyond my master's degree to continue learning about how students learn.
Students often ask me what I do when I am not at school. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I married my best friend Peter in August 2009. In 2013 our son Peter was born. Our second son Michael was born in 2017. We adopted our dog Louise in August 2021. We all love watching the Eagles and the Phillies together! I also love to read and spend time outside.
Throughout the year we will have several opportunities to meet, like at Meet the Staff Night and fall conferences. One time we will meet is at our yearly IEP meeting. Your child's IEP team includes you, myself, the regular education teacher, district representative, and relevant specialists. Although we must meet at least once a year please know that an individualized education plan (IEP) is an open, working document. We can revise goals, services, program modifications and specially designed instruction at any time throughout the year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns regarding your child's education. Communication is key!
