This August marks the start of my 29th year of teaching! I have been teaching in the Upper Perkiomen School District since 1999. The first 12 years here were spent teaching 5th grade--9 of those years at the middle school. This will be my 13th year in 3rd grade. I'm looking forward to another great year! Prior to teaching at UPSD, I taught preschool for 2 years at First Friends in New Britain, PA. I also previously taught 6th grade learning support for 2 years at Lockerman Middle School in Denton, MD. I received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Delaware with dual certification in Elementary and Special Education. I continued my education at DeSales University where I earned a Master's Degree in Computers in Education for Elementary Students. I have also earned 30 graduate credits beyond my Master's.
I live in Quakertown, PA, with my son, Jack, and my husband, Dave. My husband is also a teacher. He works for Project Search at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit. Jack is 21 years old and attends Temple University. He is enrolled as a special education major. If he continues on that path, he will be a fourth generation teacher!
My family and I like to do lots of things together. We like to vacation at the shore and at Disney World. We didn't travel to either of those places this summer, though. I was able to visit my cousin and aunt in the Nashville area, attend a family reunion in Cincinnati, and visit Chicago, though! We are big baseball and hockey fans--especially the Phillies and the Flyers!
I love to read. I will read almost anything I can get my hands on! Doing Sudoku puzzles is another way I love to pass the time. Everyday I do the Wordle, the Quordle, and the Octordle, too. I also enjoy cooking for my family.
