Second Grade Supplies
Dear Students and Parents,
We know that many families enjoy shopping as they look forward to a new school year. Teachers often receive requests regarding what school supplies will be needed. Due to space limitations and to help avoid making unnecessary purchases, we have compiled a list of items for your second grade student to use throughout the school year. If you wish your child may bring these supplies on the first day of school.
1 pencil box or pouch (about 8x5x1 inch will fit in our desks) Pack of Glue Sticks
1 Yellow Highlighter
2 dozen standard pencils (Ticonderoga brand is best for sharpening)
2 block eraser
1 pack of 12 colored pencils
3- Pocket folders (Red, Yellow, and Blue)
2 family-size box of tissues (to share throughout the year)
1 24-package crayons
4-5 spiral bound notebooks - 1 subject, wide ruled
1 box Ziploc bags – sandwich/gallon size (optional)
Over the course of the year we may be asking for additional quantities of tissues, pencils and glue sticks.
We encourage the use of traditional backpacks rather than those on wheels due to limited storage space. The children should not bring binders, like “Trapper Keepers” unless requested by the teacher at “Meet the Staff Social”, and please do not send mechanical pencils to school.
We recommend that each student have a designated workspace at home. In this area, the student could have the following supplies available: pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, colored pencils, scissors, glue, tape and a ruler (inch & centimeter). These items could be stored in a shoebox or other container.
We hope this list of suggested supplies will assist you when making your “Back to School” selections. Please understand that these purchases are totally voluntary. We are looking forward to a rewarding second grade year. Thank you for your support!
