About Me
Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year!
I graduated from West Chester University in December of 2007 with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education. My teaching career started here at Hereford where I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. This is my eleventh year teaching second grade! In 2015, while teaching at Hereford, I received a Master's Degree in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University. Since then I have earned 30 credits that I utilize in my classroom and to improve my teaching!
My husband, Sean, and I got married in 2017. We just recently celebrated our 6tth anniversary. In March of 2019, we had our first child. Our son, Talon, is 4 years old! I love spending time with him and watching him explore the world and figure things out for himself! We also have a Goldendoodle named Melia. She is such a loving and caring fur ball. Talon and Melia get along so well, they are best buddies! Over the summer I love taking advantage of the nice weather and spending time at the beach or the pool.

Classroom Procedures
Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering in class, please complete the form and return it at your earliest convenience. Throughout the year, we need help for various activities such as special projects, science, field trips, celebrations, preparing supplies, etc. I will also need weekly volunteers to help with guided reading, rocket math, and other activities. There are also abundant opportunities to volunteer throughout the school year for special school wide events such as Hereford Hike, Holiday Bazaar, Family Nights, etc. PTFS organizes many of these events, and I would encourage you to join ($5.00 membership fee per family)! Please be aware that if you decide to be a regular volunteer, you will need to undergo a tuberculosis test and submit a child abuse clearance application to the state of Pennsylvania.
Absence/health: If your child is not going to be in school, please call the school to make us aware. If your child had a fever or vomited the previous night, please keep them at home. While we want all children in school whenever possible, we also don’t want to prolong an illness or spread an illness with a too soon return. Upon your child’s return to school, PLEASE SEND IN AN EXCUSE NOTE. Also, please remember that the nurse is here to take care of your child in the event of an injury or illness that occurs at school. If your child becomes ill or is injured outside of school and requires medical attention, please contact your family physician.
Parent pick-ups: Whenever possible, have your child use school provided transportation. However, if you need to pick up your child for any reason, you must send in a note with your child by 8:45 of the day they are to be picked up. Please include all relevant information on the note (child’s name, who will be picking them up, time, etc.).
Classroom Rules
- Be Safe: Follow school, playground, and classroom rules. Be aware of yourself and others, think before acting.
- Be Respectful: Listen to school personnel, be kind and caring to others, and act as a role model for others. Stop, think, and make a good choice.
- Be Responsible: Complete homework, be prepared for class, and return notes and important paperwork.
- Be Kind: Follow the Golden Rule- Treat others the way that you want to be treated.
Individual: We will be using Class Dojo to track individual student behavior.
Whole Class: We have a class marble jar labeled “Caught Being Good.” The class can earn marbles during the day for things such as making good choices, following directions that have been given, or if they are given a compliment from another staff member. Prior to filling the jar, the students will vote on what the reward will be.
