Athletic Identity Review

Upper Perkiomen School District is reviewing ways to strengthen the visual identity of its athletic programs while preserving the traditions and pride that have long connected our school community.

This work focuses on creating a more consistent and sustainable athletic identity across uniforms, facilities, spirit wear, signage, digital platforms, and other athletic materials. The process is focused on the graphic representation of Upper Perkiomen Athletics; it is not a mascot change.

Why We Are Reviewing Our Athletic Identity

Upper Perkiomen Athletics has used a variety of logos, colors, fonts, and imagery over time. A unified athletic identity would provide clearer direction for teams, vendors, spirit wear stores, facilities, and district communications.

The goal is to create a consistent, modern, and respectful visual identity that reflects Upper Perk pride and can be used across all athletic programs for years to come.

Listening, Learning, and Collaboration

This process has included conversations with student-athletes, district leaders, athletic staff, the Communications Committee, and representatives from the Delaware Tribe of Indians.

Student feedback emphasized the importance of school pride, clarity around the athletic identity, and a symbol that reflects Upper Perkiomen’s values. Consultation with cultural education leaders also helped guide a respectful approach to visual representation.

The Delaware Tribe of Indians shared that it does not officially endorse the names or logo concepts under consideration, but appreciated the District’s willingness to consult and learn as the process moves forward.

What Would a Transition Look Like?

If a new athletic identity is approved, Upper Perkiomen would transition to it gradually over time.

Existing uniforms, equipment, permanent signage, and other physical materials would not need to be replaced solely because of a new logo. Items already in use could remain through their normal service life. As materials are replaced, reordered, or newly produced, they would begin to use the approved athletic identity.

Upper Perkiomen’s athletic identity has evolved throughout the District’s history, and previous logos remain connected to the teams, accomplishments, and memories of the eras in which they were used.

This approach would allow the District to establish a more consistent athletic identity while preserving its history and making responsible use of existing resources.
